This training is for those who will be assessing needs and entering requests for assistance into the HTHU portal. This may be for those working at a Civil Defence Centre, going door to door, receiving evacuees, answering phone lines, etc.
During the needs assessment training staff will learn how to refer a person needing support into the ‘Here to help u’ portal; monitoring progress of cases; checking when cases are closed/finished.
During the needs coordinator training staff will learn how to pick up a case; case prioritisation; screening cases to assess the needs; assigning cases to providers/s; completing cases.
This training is for those who may act as a Welfare Function Manager during an event, receiving support requests relevant to Civil Defence or Local Council, e.g. food, temporary accommodation, rubbish removal – and ensuring that this assistance is provided to the requestee.
During the welfare delivery coordinator training, staff will learn how to pick up pending assignments; accept or decline these assignments as appropriate and how to complete assignments in the portal once support has been delivered.

Welcome to the Hamilton City Council Emergency Operations Centre Orientation page.
Here you can sign up to one of the monthly EOC orientations held at the HCC Emergency Operations Centre on level 2 of the Genesis Building at 94 Bryce Street. Inductions are held on the first Wednesday of every month (except for January) and will only take 1 hour. You will have needed to complete the online ITF Foundation course before signing up for this course (see the sidebar for the link).
The orientation will give you the chance to get to know the layout of the EOC, how to set it up in an emergency and meet your Emergency Management Officers. You will also get the chance to ask any questions you have about civil defence, emergency responses or anything else you are curious about in the Emergency Management realm.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
