Purpose:

The Response Manager ensures the co-ordination centre is running effectively on a day-to-day basis. This workshop is intended for people who may act as Response Manager in support of the Controller within a Civil Defence or Agency coordination centre during a response.

 

Format:

The one-day face to face workshop is a combination of theory, and practical scenario-based exercises. This provides the opportunity to ask questions, learn and practice skills in a safe environment, and meet others you may be working alongside in a response.

 

Topics Include:

•                     • Overview of the Response Manager role

•                     • Signs of a high functioning coordination centre (cc)

•                     • Leading the initial response phase, priorities at activation

•                     • Reviewing the layout of the coordination centre given current and potential event size

•                     • Assisting the Controller with the Mission Intent Statement and Controllers Intent

•                     • Building the IMT, operational structure for each function, and across response levels

•                     • Establishing norms e.g. information basics, use of status reports, end of day debriefs

•                     • Establishing the daily schedule

•                     • What a Controller expects when returning to the coordination centre

•                     • Common pitfalls and solutions

•                     • Controller approvals

•                     • Decision making

•                    • Status reports and incident management team meetings
